2. HALF-LIFE

Half-Life is one of the best Action games ever, an instant classic that is miles ahead of its immediate competition. In single-player form it is the best first-person shooter since the original DOOM. The game has no levels as such, it comprises of a series of titled chapters, each of which groups a number of mini-levels into one unit. There is a satisfying arsenal for your killing pleasure. The monsters are quite scary and creepy and unlike other games of this kind they are blessed with very high AI. Half-Life uses the Quake Engine as its base, but yet its much more advanced. It is an awesome-looking game especially with 3D acceleration, non-stop action, atmospheric music and sound effects and inventive level design and weaponry. Sure a must-to-have.

Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM) is a single-user game featuring the exploration of a dungeon-complex. It is one of the oldest games and the most important aspect is that it gives you hours of gameplay although it loses out on graphics and sound..You control a fictional character described by race, class, attributes, skills, and equipment. This fictional character is trying to achieve a specific goal and succeed in a difficult quest. To fulfill the quest, you have to explore previously undiscovered tunnels and dungeons, fight hideous monsters, uncover long-forgotten secrets, and find treasures of all kind. During the game, you explore dungeon levels which are randomly generated in each game. You might also encounter certain special levels, which present a particular challenge or are built around a certain theme.
